What to expect for all levels
Our Primary 1 to Primary 6 English writing curriculum is designed to build strong, lasting composition writing skills while making learning enjoyable. From creative writing and vocabulary building to grammar mastery and exam preparation, each level develops students progressively, equipping them with the confidence and skills to excel in school assessments and PSLE English composition. Interactive lessons, games, and regular assessments ensure that students strengthen their writing, language, and critical thinking skills in a structured and engaging way.

This section is designed to help parents and students understand what to expect at The Writer’s Place and how our creative writing classes can support your child’s learning journey.
We specialise in English creative writing classes for Primary 1 to 6 students (Paper 1 “Continuous Writing”). Our curriculum is aligned with the latest MOE syllabus and focuses on exam-readiness, structured writing techniques, vocabulary enhancement, and creative expression. (Paper 1 consists of (a) Situational Writing 14 marks (b) Continuous Writing 36 marks)

Our curriculum is fully aligned with the latest MOE syllabus, ensuring students learn what is relevant for school and PSLE English. Our curriculum team continuously monitors trends, updates, and commonly-tested topics, so lessons remain current, effective, and tailored to help students excel in English composition writing.
Each class has a maximum of 12 students. Each lesson is 1 hour and 45 minutes long. Our flexible hybrid lessons allow students to attend at the centre or online. As students have collected their worksheets in advance, students can simply join the class via Zoom at the same timing.
Make Up Lesson within the same week. If student is unable to attend his scheduled timing, he can opt to attend an existing available timeslot within the same week (max. 3 times per term, subjected to availability) Lesson cycle is from Tuesday to Saturday. *For full T&C, kindly check with centre.

4. Lessons run from January to early December without any breaks. There will be 3 weeks of break in December.
Every lesson is 1 hour and 45 minutes. For the first 45 minutes, our teachers will go through the material for the week - reading the story, explaining key vocabulary and story structure, attempting the Question Analysis with our students.
Students will then get 50 minutes to write their own composition. The remaining time will be used for revision or games, either self-guided or assigned by the teacher.
We aim to allow our students to be exposed to writing practice as much as possible. In a term, there are only a few weeks that they will not be writing a story. This includes our termly Progress Check (L12) and technique lessons (e.g. Creating a Likeable/Unlikeable Character).
Detailed marking is given for every piece of composition writing that our students attempt. You should expect the worksheets to be returned by the next week. However, for Term Tests, we allow the teachers up to 2 weeks of marking time to account for the detailed feedback that they provide for this assessment.
Yes, but registration for writing classes for P1s only start in Term 3. This is because we wish for them to build some key basic foundations in school before they attempt to write their compositions.
